Get ready to get convinced..!
If this was the only reason on the list, it would be enough. What do you think should be the first motive of a small businesses? – TO GROW. Right? And to grow and bring customers to experience your service or buy your product, you first need to grab them from your competitors. Isn’t it?
But What if the customer is already looking for you online, but as you do not have a web presence.. they went for your competitor instead? Isn’t that hurtful to your small business?
In order to grow your small business and reach more people you should always be ahead of your competitors, and a website if no exception.
A website is your business’ first impression in today’s digital world. I mean, it’s that straight forward. Whenever people search for your product online, the first thing they expect to see is a website of your business. It gives authenticity and credibility to your brand and apart from that there is no one else who can explain about your product or service better other than you.
Today’s digital savvy customers expect a business to have a website. There was an interesting research done in 2016 by Brightlocal, that shows, that clients do expect Businesses to have a website.
80% of participants in the age between 18 – 54 say, that they are more likely to contact a business if the business has a website.
Its shocking to know that still “46% of the small business do not have a website”.
If you are having a brick and mortar store of your business, then you are most certain to operate only on your business hours. May be 10:00AM to 8:00PM? and even ‘Closed’ on certain holidays.
But do you know, even your customers are working in their offices in those hours? How do you expect them to come to you when they are already busy? Even I shop Online between 10:00PM to 12:00 AM in the midnight, because that’s convenient for me.
I know, its impossible to keep your store up 24 hours, 365 days. Its practically impossible to do where only one or hardly two people manage your business.
But what if you can still operate your business and your sales going up while you are still asleep? Yes..! It’s possible. A website gives you that facility.
If you have a website, you never need to close the shutter, you never need to put a ‘CLOSED’ sign board. *Digitally*
Your customers can still visit your store online and buy your products after they return their home from office. And, you do have the privilege to enjoy on holidays without the fear of loosing the customers, because your website will take care of your job Online. And this is what you call ‘Earn while you sleep’.
Webrooming is a slang for the consumer practice of researching products online before buying them in a physical store. This is a phenomenon that has occurred in the days of the modern web, where customers research a product online and then buy it in your physical store.
Yes.! People do it. I do it personally. Especially to check the price differences and reviews of a product that I wish to buy.
Webrooming can impact your business in a positive way if your website can provide better information on how your product can make their lives better.
People will more likely to visit your store if you are already winning it online. As simple as that.
If having a website for your small business is the first step of establishing your online presence then, marketing your brand and generating new leads is what keeps your brand growing in the long run.
To Get your audience engaged in social media channels of your business, to announce exciting offers, discounts, sales and to keep your customers waiting to launch your new releases.. everything, almost everything needs a website as a landing page.
So, if you ever want to get serious about growing your brand, consider website as a center for all your online marketing.
If you are a famous Chai wala or an exclusive boutique of designer wear collection at your place, I will have no idea about your existence unless I visit your place by chance and your localites tell me that you are just awesome and I must visit for sure.
But what if your business had a chance of reaching not just your localites, not just your people of your country but to the people living in this whole world? Wouldn’t that be just mind blowing?
Imagine if the whole world loves your services or products the same as your localites love it. Your brand can be the next big sensation overnight and you will no longer be called a ‘small business’.
That’s the power of having a web presence for your business.
It’s never been so easy to get new customers visit brick and mortar stores of your business. May be the only way you can find new customers visiting your store is with high levels of word of mouth marketing. This holds good for any food or restaurant businesses.
But what if your are into ‘not-so-common’ niche like ‘a pet store’? You need new clients to keep your business running. Because here, it is almost a rare case scenario that only one customer visits your store every day to buy all the pets in your store.
In that case, a website can represent you in many different places near you and will bring the new clients you have been waiting for so long.
Not every time you will have a chance to get time to speak about your products to your customers at your brick and mortar stores. But admit it or not, it is really important to get to know about the specialty of your products and services to your customers to keep your sales growing.
Today’s impatient customers have no time to listen to every point that you what to say them, but remember they still want to hear what they want to hear. Confused? Let me give you an example,
I went to a small businesses’ exhibition recently, where I stopped by a natural skin care brand (not disclosing the name). Their marketing manager started narrating about benefits of choosing natural skin care, their brand’s story and their practices. I was half listening and getting bored. Because She didn’t know that there is no need to tell me about the benefits of using natural skin care, because I already know and am using only natural skin care. Secondly, I wanted to know about their ‘products’ which can address my dark spots problem, which i didn’t get to hear from her.
These silly mistakes can be avoided if you have a website. How you ask? Let’s take the above example, If I have found their website online, I would directly go to their best product range for dark spots and read about the ingredients and benefits of it without wasting much of my time and decide whether to buy or not.
That’s it. End of story.!
Even though your product or service is exceptionally good, you cant bug every customer each time they enter your store by saying ‘Our product is the best in the whole world’. Neither you cant hold back the customers who liked your product to stay in your store , to spread a good word of mouth to the ones who visit the store. Highly impossible.
But again, your website can do that too. Heard of testimonials? You can ask any of your customer to leave a review of a product or service of your business on the website.
These reviews can be seen by every one who visits your website. This increases credibility on your website, because there’s a difference between hearing something good about your product/service from a like minded people and from a person who owns the business and created it.
You know that Time is money, especially when you run a small business. Every minute matters. The time you spend on your business today will pay you for years to come together.
Whenever your business is selling any new service or product, your customers will have a lot of questions to ask and its really time taking to answer and clear every question of it. But your Website’s FAQ section or Blog will take care of that. Plus, if you can answer their questions before they contact your business you can do them a big favor.
Time is differently spent in different businesses. But as said, they are few things that you can control or may be your website can.
The time that you save here, can now be a time that you invest in your business growth and development.
“Do you know that your website can save your money”?
You know how much it costs to run a brick and mortar store. The rent, electricity bill, maintenance bill etc, are just enough to suffice you when you are in your initial phase of developing your business.
On the other hand, a Website is low maintenance. Once it’s designed and Live, you hardly need any money to invest in it (unless you want any additional features).
It may be easy to start a business, but to keep it running and growing requires efforts and every thing that you invest in your business will defiantly pay off tomorrow.
A website, will not only let you showcase your products and services to your customers in a beautiful manner, but also will let you invest your time in much more important things that can grow your business rather than sitting and waiting for customers to step in to your store.
Having read all those reasons mentioned, I bet there will be one who would take a risk of not having a website designed for their business.
But it’s just not enough to have a website if that website is not professional or it doesn’t have a good design.
Your website should reflect your brand. It should be a reflection of your business’ values. You should tell your story and keep your visitors stick through out the journey from the start until the end of the buying process.
The website should be designed for the needs of your ideal customer (or customers).
It should bring your brand closer to your potential customers.
